What happened: Midland High competed in the Crandall Tournament and Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15, gaining valuable early-season reps across four matchups. The Lady Bulldogs opened against Sunnyvale, where they fell 65–21 after trailing 11–4 in the first, 29–15 at halftime, and 45–17 after the third.

They then faced Kennedale, putting forth a strong effort throughout the contest, but lost 51–46. Midland High followed with a competitive 57–43 loss to Brook Hill before closing the event by earning a 46–42 win over Newman Smith. At the end of the weekend, the Lady Bulldogs were 3-4 for the season.

Go deeper: Despite early challenges, the Lady Bulldogs improved with each game. Against Brook Hill, they tightened defensive rotations, moved the ball more effectively, and stayed within reach during key stretches. Their confidence grew noticeably, leading to a more complete performance.

The progress was most evident in the win over Newman Smith. Midland High attacked the paint, hustled on loose balls, and executed late possessions with composure. Their defensive energy in the fourth quarter helped secure the victory and reflected how much they had settled in over the course of the tournament.

What’s next: Midland returns home on Tuesday, Nov. 18, to face Lakeview at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Bulldogs will look to carry the confidence and lessons from the Crandall Tournament into another challenging non-district matchup.
