What to watch: Spring sports registration is right around the corner in Midland, offering kids a chance to stay active and build skills through local leagues. From baseball and softball to soccer, football, volleyball, t-ball, and swim/dive, Midland’s nonprofits and clubs provide diverse options with practices typically starting in February, March, or April. Here’s everything you need to know to get your young athletes signed up and ready for the season.

  • Midland Junior Baseball Association – Baseball and T-Ball
    MJBA offers T-ball for ages 4-6 and Little League for ages 7-12, with registration closing on Jan. 15. There are four Little League teams divided by district. Games will take place at various fields across town. Starting in Feb, March, or April, depending on your age group, and ending by Memorial Day weekend. All age groups are scheduled to play Monday through Thursday during the week, with the possibility of occasional Friday or weekend games.

 

  • Midland United Girls Softball (MUGS)
    Serves girls ages 3-14 with fastpitch. Registration closes Feb. 14, with late sign-ups until Feb. 22 for an extra fee. Games and practice are held at the MUGS Softball Complex in Midland. Fees are $110 for six and under, $135 for all other age divisions. Games will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays with two game times available each evening. The season starts at the beginning of March, with games running through mid-May and a tournament in July.

 

  • P5 Sports League – Football
    Spring 2026 registration for non-tackle 7-on-7 football closes Feb. 28. 7-on-7 is a competitive, non-contact way to play football. It mimics the fast pace of football minus the linemen. There’s a league open for ages 5-16 and a girls flag league for ages 8-16. The cost is $75 per player. Practice begins Mar. 28 at Reyes-Mashburn-Nelms Park.

 

  • Midland YMCA – Volleyball, T-Ball, Soccer, Swim
    All Midland YMCAs provide volleyball for grades 3-8, t-ball for PreK-4th, Soccer for 3-2nd grade, and swim for ages 6 months-12 years. Fees are $15 for members and $101 for non-members. Volleyball registration closes Feb. 13, practice and games run Mar. 3-Apr. 16 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. T-ball ends Feb. 20, practice and games run Mar. 28-May 9 on Saturdays. Soccer ends Mar. 20, practice and games run Apr. 21-May 28 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Swim is offered in monthly sessions from January-May on different days of the week, Mon-Thu and Sat, depending on age. Cost is $81 for members and $161 for non-members.

 

  • COM Aquatics – Swim and Dive
    Com offers swimming lessons and competitive swim and dive teams. Swim lessons are for ages 1-16 at a range of prices and session options. Swim and Dive teams allow ages 5-high school.
