What happened: Midland Bulldogs fell in a close non-conference home game against Andrews on Friday, Jan. 2, 56–54. The loss dropped Midland to 7–14 overall, while Andrews improved to 12–9.

The big picture: Andrews jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, holding an 18–7 advantage. Midland battled back in the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 29–24 at halftime. The third quarter saw Andrews hold a narrow 44–43 lead, setting up a tense fourth quarter. Midland closed strong but fell just short, finishing 56–54.

What’s next: The Bulldogs travel to Greenwood (13-7 overall) on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 7:30 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.
