What to watch: The No. 3-ranked team in Texas and No. 49-ranked team nationally, the Midland Bulldog baseball team, continues its playoff run. The Bulldogs will meet Dallas Jesuit in the UIL 6A regional semifinals on Saturday, May 16. Midland enters 32-5 overall, 13-2 in district play, with a 16-game winning streak. Dallas Jesuit comes in at 27-8-2 after a perfect 14-0 district season and is ranked No. 31 in Texas.

The big picture: The Bulldogs have outscored opponents 297-109 while averaging 8.0 runs per game and allowing just 2.9. After starting district play 1-2 against Frenship, Midland won its final 12 district games and swept both El Paso Eastwood and Southlake Carroll in the playoffs. Against Southlake Carroll, the Bulldogs won 3-2 in Game 1 and followed with a 3-0 shutout in Game 2.

Jesuit has outscored opponents 309-113 this season while averaging 8.4 runs per game. The Rangers enter the series on a four-game winning streak after playoff sweeps over Arlington Lamar and Denton Guyer.
