What to watch: The City of Midland’s swimming pools and splash pad will open for the 2026 season on Sunday, May 24. Families can look forward to cooling off, swimming, and making summer memories at three great locations.

The big picture: The Washington Aquatic Center (1601 E. Indiana Ave.) and Doug Russell Aquatics Center (900 N. Midland Dr.) will operate on the following schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday: 12–3 p.m. & 4–7 p.m.
  • Tuesday (Family Night at Washington): 12–3 p.m. & 4–9 p.m.
  • Thursday (Family Night at Doug Russell): 12–3 p.m. & 4–9 p.m.
  • Sunday: 1–4 p.m. & 5–8 p.m.

The XTO Dennis the Menace Splash Pad also opens May 24 and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. It is closed on Thursdays.

Admission is just $5 per person (children under 2 are free). Punch cards are also available for frequent visitors, making it easy and affordable for families to enjoy the pools all summer.
