What to know: Fitness athletes across the Permian Basin will have an opportunity to test their endurance and conditioning this summer as Midland Athletic Syndicate and F45 Ponderosa West host the WTX HYROX Full Simulation on Saturday, Aug. 1. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Diamondback Energy Athletic Complex and is designed to replicate the structure and intensity of an official HYROX competition.
The big picture: HYROX has become one of the fastest-growing fitness race formats in the world by combining endurance running with functional fitness stations in a competitive race environment. The Midland event is designed for both experienced HYROX competitors and first-time participants looking to challenge themselves in a race-style atmosphere close to home.
Athletes can compete in Women’s Open Solo, Women’s Open Doubles, Men’s Open Solo, Men’s Open Doubles, and Mixed Doubles divisions. Competitors will receive event shirts, finisher patches, and all-day access to the event as part of their registration.
Go deeper: Organizers are encouraging athletes interested in competing to follow F45 Ponderosa West for HYROX training workouts, preparation tips, and event updates leading up to race day.
The registration deadline is July 30, and athlete wave times will be released on July 31. Participants are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before their assigned start time.
What’s next: Solo athlete registration is $81.88, while doubles teams can register for $135.23. Spectator tickets are available for $12.51, and children ages 5 and under are admitted free. Athletes interested in competing should contact F45 Ponderosa West at 432-245-5599.
