What to know: Fitness athletes across the Permian Basin will have an opportunity to test their endurance and conditioning this summer as Midland Athletic Syndicate and F45 Ponderosa West host the WTX HYROX Full Simulation on Saturday, Aug. 1. The event runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Diamondback Energy Athletic Complex and is designed to replicate the structure and intensity of an official HYROX competition.

The big picture: HYROX has become one of the fastest-growing fitness race formats in the world by combining endurance running with functional fitness stations in a competitive race environment. The Midland event is designed for both experienced HYROX competitors and first-time participants looking to challenge themselves in a race-style atmosphere close to home.

Athletes can compete in Women’s Open Solo, Women’s Open Doubles, Men’s Open Solo, Men’s Open Doubles, and Mixed Doubles divisions. Competitors will receive event shirts, finisher patches, and all-day access to the event as part of their registration.
