Kiwanis Park is a hidden gem in north Midland
What to know: Kiwanis Park is a 3.8-acre neighborhood park located at 2900 Haynes Drive in north Midland, tucked into a quiet residential area near Goddard Junior High and Fannin Elementary. The park features a playground, shaded picnic areas, mature trees, a paved walking path, and a large open field for sports and recreation.
The big picture: Kiwanis Park offers a nice balance of open space, shade, and kid-friendly play, making it a great destination whether you’re bringing the kids to play, walking the dog, or simply looking for a quiet place to spend an afternoon.
The playground features a shaded play structure with a variety of climbing and sliding options, swings, and a zipline. Several shaded picnic tables give parents a comfortable place to watch the playground, while the large open field and gentle hills provide plenty of room for casual sports, games, or simply letting kids run around.
A paved walking path loops around the park and winds through mature trees, making it a favorite spot for walking, jogging, or exercising with dogs. The mature trees provide generous shade throughout much of the park, which is especially appreciated during Midland’s hot summers. On the far side of the park, a more secluded picnic area offers a quieter space for family picnics or small gatherings.
Go deeper: Because the park is surrounded by neighborhood streets rather than a major roadway, it feels tucked away from traffic while remaining easy to access.
Between the shaded playground, open field, picnic tables, and plenty of trash receptacles, Kiwanis Park is also an excellent location for birthday parties, family gatherings, and other small outdoor celebrations. The playground keeps kids entertained while adults have plenty of shaded seating nearby, making it easy to spend several hours at the park.
