What to watch: Brick Convention, one of the nation’s largest traveling LEGO fan expos, is coming to Midland for the first time on Saturday through Sunday, July 11-12, at the Bush Convention Center.
The big picture: The family-friendly event features massive fan-built LEGO displays, hands-on building areas, shopping, and activities for builders of all ages.
Attendees can explore displays inspired by Star Wars, trains, castles, botanical creations, cities, and more while meeting LEGO builders and viewing life-size models. Building zones throughout the convention give children and adults the chance to create their own LEGO designs. Vendors will also offer loose bricks, retired and current LEGO sets, minifigures, and accessories for collectors and hobbyists.
A portion of every ticket sold benefits the Build Smiles Foundation, an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides new LEGO sets to underprivileged children around the world.
Go deeper: The convention will offer two sessions each day: Session I from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or Session II from 2 to 5 p.m.
Tickets are $15 online, plus fees, or $20 at the door. Admission is valid only for the selected session. Children 2 and younger are free. Organizers recommend purchasing tickets in advance, as sessions may sell out.
