What to know: The Midland West Side Lions Club will host its 21st Annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center on the Midland College campus. The free event will provide 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies while giving families an opportunity to connect with local organizations before the new school year begins.

The big picture: In addition to receiving free backpacks and school supplies, families can participate in a scavenger hunt and visit booths hosted by community partners offering information about local resources and services. The Back to School Bash has become one of the Lions Club’s signature annual events, helping hundreds of Midland students begin each school year with the supplies they need.
