What happened: Midland Classical Academy pulled away from Midland Trinity in four sets Friday night, winning 25-19, 25-14, 18-25, 25-13 on Senior Night at MCA.

The big picture: The teams were tied 16-16 in a tight opening set before senior Kampbell Stephens helped the Lady Knights pull away, delivering the final kill to seal a 25-19 win. MCA carried that momentum into the second set, cruising to a 25-14 win and taking a 2-0 lead.

Trinity answered in the third, winning 25-18 to force another set, but MCA quickly regained control. The Lady Knights closed the night with a decisive 25-13 fourth-set win to take the match 3-1.

Go deeper: Delaney Whitehead led MCA with 15 kills and added 11 digs. Stephens finished with 11 kills, while Mallory Pond added nine. Senior Addi Weeks recorded five aces and 15 assists, while freshman Kanon Whitehead led the Lady Knights with 23 assists. Grace Helzer anchored the defense with 14 digs.

Both schools brought sizable student sections that kept the gym loud throughout the match. After the win, Midland Classical held a Senior Night reception honoring Weeks and Stephens.
