TCU brings Division I basketball to Midland this weekend
What to watch: Texas Christian University men’s basketball is spending the weekend in Midland with a free exhibition game and a free youth clinic. The Horned Frogs face the Wyoming Cowboys at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Al G. Langford Chaparral Center on the Midland College campus. Admission is free and open to the public. The clinic runs 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Diamondback Energy’s Athletic Complex for grades K-8th with free registration.
Division I is the highest level of college athletics, and Midland does not see it in person very often. Kids in grades K–8 can spend an hour on the court with TCU players and coaches Friday, then sit in the Chap Center the next day and watch the same team play a real game against another Division I opponent.
Friday night clinic: The clinic is open to boys and girls in grades K–8. Players and coaches from the TCU staff will run the session, which ends with autographs and photos. The clinic is free, but advance registration is required. Wear basketball shoes and athletic clothes.
Saturday game: TCU and Wyoming tip at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Chaparral Center. No ticket or registration is needed for the game. TCU leads the all-time series with Wyoming 12–9 and won the last meeting, 64–47, in 2019. This exhibition game does not count in either team’s official record, so both sides can play regular minutes without the result affecting their season.
