TCU bests Wyoming in exhibition game played at Chap Center
What happened: TCU beat Wyoming 89-76 Saturday afternoon at Midland College’s Chaparral Center. Admission was free for the preseason game and gave college basketball fans in Midland a chance to watch two division I teams scrimmage before the regular season starts.
The big picture: Gavin Sykes led TCU with 17 points off the bench. Brock Harding added 16. He went four-for-four on 3-pointers. Micah Robinson finished with 15 points. TCU also had a 34-22 edge in rebounds. Nasir Meyer led Wyoming with 24 points. Khaden Bennett added 17. The game gave both teams some time on the court before wins and losses start counting towards their NCAA records in 2026-27.
Last year the Cowboys went 18-15 overall and 9-11 in the MWC and lost in the first round of the NIT against Wichita State. TCU looks to improve on last year’s 6th place Big 12 finish at 11-7 (23-12 overall) where they earned an 8 seed in the NCAA tournament and picked up 1 win against Ohio State before losing the Duke in the second round.
What’s next: TCU opens its season at home against Lindenwood on Monday, Nov. 2. Tipoff is at 7 p.m. in Fort Worth. Wyoming opens its season on Nov 3rd against division II Regis University of Denver.
