What to watch: The 4th annual Attic SuperHero Run hits the streets on Saturday, Sept. 20. Costumes are encouraged, so dust off your cape, gather your crew, and join the fun. Every step makes a difference for children in crisis.

Why it matters: The SuperHero Run raises awareness and support for foster youth in the Permian Basin. Proceeds benefit The Attic Resource Center, a program of One Accord for Kids, which fills everyday needs to help foster families find stability.

The big picture: The event is recruiting everyday heroes, local families, neighbors, and volunteers, to help keep kids closer to home. You don’t have to be a seasoned runner. Walkers, strollers, and even leashed dogs are welcome. Whether you’re racing, cheering, or volunteering, your presence helps The Attic’s mission to serve foster youth.

Go deeper: Races begin at 8 a.m. with a kids’ 1K Fun Run, followed by the 5K and 10K. All events are held at First Baptist Church of Midland. Visit theatticsuperherorun.com to sign up, volunteer, or give in other ways.

What they’re saying: “We are excited to celebrate the superheroes of foster care and adoption,” Matt Waller, Director of Community Impact at One Accord for Kids, said. “We hope everyone will come out to celebrate with us, help support The Attic Resource Center, and learn more about how they can be a superhero to our most vulnerable children.”
