What happened: Midland’s West Texas Kennel Club Dog Show dazzled Feb. 12–14 at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena, drawing 599 entries across breeds in a celebration of canine excellence and family fun.
Go deeper: Best in Show went to an elegant Bichon Frise, GCH Hallmark Big Hero Six Baymax. Show dogs often have elaborate registered names, which are part tradition, part distinction. The “GHC” designation stands for Grand Champion, meaning Baymax has earned top honors before.
While the sight of this show was definitely strange to an outsider, the atmosphere was welcoming and engaging. Owners and judges were very kind and welcoming, allowing you to ask questions, pet the dogs, and enjoy this new experience.
