What to watch: The Midland County Commissioners Court will meet Tuesday, March 3, to consider equipment purchases for the Sheriff’s Office and Justice of the Peace building, amend agreements for Flock camera installations on TxDOT rights-of-way, review multiple Road & Bridge contracts, and discuss hiring a temporary Court Administrator.

Key points:

  • TAG unit: Commissioners will consider purchasing a TruNarc Digital Drug Analyzer for the Texas Anti-Gang Unit. The handheld device uses laser-based technology, allowing officers to quickly identify suspected illegal drugs in the field without opening the packaging.

The court will also consider approving an application and resolution for the fiscal year 2027 TAG Grant, an interlocal agreement allowing TAG analysts to access Ector County records, and a vehicle trade for the TAG Administrator.

  • Sheriff’s Office: The court will consider an amended agreement to allow installation of Flock license plate reader cameras on TxDOT rights-of-way, and a purchase of an outdoor radio cabinet for the jail radio tower.
  • Staff updates: Commissioners will also receive updates from Animal Control, Warrant Services, and the Fire Marshal, and discuss closing Warrant Services on Tuesdays.
