What to watch: The City of Midland’s 4th Annual Fly Into Fall takes off Saturday, Aug. 23, at Midland Airpark, 901 Veterans Airpark Ln., with a full day of aviation-themed fun for the whole family.

Why it matters: This free event, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., offers an interactive and educational experience where guests can explore aircraft up close, enjoy kid-friendly activities, meet aviation professionals, and take part in hands-on exhibits.

Go deeper: The morning kicks off with the Run the Runway race at 7:45 a.m., presented by Midland Athletic Company. Due to runway construction, this year’s route follows taxiways and the surrounding areas of the airpark. Runners can register at runsignup.com.

Last year’s highlights included free 20-minute flights above the city, meet-and-greets with a NASA astronaut, and drone obstacle course  for participants to show off their flying skills.
