Greenwood baseball season ends after 23-wins, playoff run

What happened: Greenwood baseball’s season came to an end in a three-game playoff series against Amarillo Randall, falling 9-7 in the third game after splitting the first two games. Randall won the first game 5-3, and the Rangers responded with a 15-12 win in the second game. The Rangers finished the year 23-11 overall and 7-3 in district, finishing second in district.
The big picture: Greenwood put together a strong, consistent season, winning more than two-thirds of its games. The Rangers posted a .676 winning percentage, going 12-3 at home and 10-8 on the road, while scoring 229 runs and allowing 164.
The season included decisive wins, including a 22-4 victory over McCamey and back-to-back 7-0 wins over Sweetwater and Brownwood. They also proved they could win close games, including a 3-2 win over Montwood and a 6-5 win over Abilene. In district play, Greenwood went 7-3 with wins over Seminole, Monahans, Pecos, and Fort Stockton, including shutouts against Monahans (10-0) and Pecos (6-0).
