What happened: Greenwood stayed red hot Friday, Oct. 3, defeating Lubbock-Cooper Liberty 34–14 on homecoming night to extend its unbeaten streak to 6–0, the Rangers’ best start since 2019. The win over a strong Liberty team reinforced Greenwood’s reputation as a serious contender heading into district play.

Senior quarterback Lincoln Madrid powered the offense with 135 passing yards, 115 rushing yards, and all five of Greenwood’s touchdowns, leading another complete team performance in front of a packed home crowd. Madrid connected twice with Dylan Payton, who finished with 59 receiving yards, and hit Beckam Whiteside for a 22-yard score.

On defense, senior linebacker Dakota Underhill grabbed an interception and made a crucial fourth-down stop near the goal line. Noah Rivas added another interception as the Rangers’ defense limited Liberty to just 14 points and forced multiple red-zone stops.
