The Greenwood girls soccer team continued to build on the program’s young foundation with another winning season and a postseason appearance. The Rangerettes have made the playoffs in all four years of the team’s existence and concluded the 2024-2025 campaign with a chance to collect more hardware.

Head Coach Saydee White and company earned their first win of the season against Canyon in non-district play. The Rangerettes scored three goals in the first half and added another two out of the break for the 5-0 win.

The reigning District 2-4A champions later opened the league slate with a three-game win streak with commanding wins over Pecos, Estacado, and Lake View, outscoring those teams 23-1. Greenwood later swept every team in the district, except Liberty, and finished league competition on a four-game win streak. The Rangerettes punched their ticket to the postseason with a 14-1-1 record and second-place spot in District 2-4A play.

Coach White’s squad also earned recognition with All-District honors and standout awards. Brooke Clifton was named the District MVP. Emily Jones earned the Golden Boot for most goals scored in the league. Grace Brown grabbed the “Co-Defensive MVP” title. Ella Cook, Brooke Rogers, Kyra Pivaral, and Farrah Fortner earned spots on the 1st Team. Addyson Adame, Madalena Balderas, and Gabriela Barrios were named to the 2nd Team. Laney Hayes, Maira De La Puente, and Danaly Montoya were tabbed to the Honorable Mention list.

Greenwood kicked off the playoffs with a 2024 third-round rematch against San Elizario. The Rangerettes’ season came to an end with the 4-1 loss. The local squad capped off the season with a 15-6-2 overall record. Greenwood will start the 2025-2026 season with a new leader at the helm. Coach White departed from the program in May for a head coaching job with 6A Magnolia.
