What happened: Greenwood softball finished the 2025–26 season 13-15-1 overall and 4-6 in district, earning fourth place and a playoff berth. The Rangers’ season ended 14-6 in the bi-district round against Dumas, 30-1 overall and ranked the No. 19 team across Texas.
The big picture: The Rangers picked up key early wins over Cleburne (12-3), Legacy (15-0), Marble Falls (14-6), and Big Spring (7-6). They finished with 162 runs scored and went 8-4-1 in tournament play. District play, however, came down to small margins. Greenwood dropped multiple close games, including a 2-1 loss to Pecos and a 16-15 extra-inning game against Seminole.
Go deeper: Juniors Millie Wilkinson, Farrah Fortner, Brylee Savage, Mae Savage, Addison Arredondo, and Lexi Stewart provided a core group, while players like Bella Lopez, Haylee Tarango, Hannah Zarate, Julia Fox, and Rayleigh Brown gained experience throughout the season.
What’s next: Greenwood returns a large group of sophomores and juniors, giving the program continuity heading into next season.
