The Greenwood volleyball team earned the 2024 District Championship with a perfect 10-0 District 3-4A record. This was the second straight year the Rangerettes claimed the league title.

Head Coach Amy Long and company started collecting hardware in tournament play. Greenwood went undefeated in the Denver City Tournament and won the Gold Bracket with victories over Fort Davis, Lubbock Christian, Andrews, and Denver City. The local squad also added tallies to the win column with battles against a handful of Permian Basin teams in non-district play and went 8-0 in those contests. 

The Rangerettes rolled through the District 3-4A docket and only lost seven sets through that stretch. Greenwood was especially dominant against Seminole and Pecos, notching season sweeps of both programs. Coach Long’s squad went undefeated and earned its second District title in a row. Six members of this squad also received All-District recognition. Brinkley Smith and Brooke Clifton were tabbed to the 1st Team. Rylee Rubio and Maklynli Carrell were added to the 2nd Team list. Ruby Ogle and Olivia Willis also earned an Honorable Mention nod. 

Greenwood opened the postseason against Hereford. The Rangerettes dropped three close sets to the Whiteface, keeping each deficit within three points. Coach Long’s team improved from its 2023 win total by four victories with its 34-8 overall record.

A few Rangerettes put together standout seasons. Emily Jones was named the Outstanding Setter for the district and was also selected as a member of the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State Volleyball team. The sophomore was one of just 50 4A players from the Lone Star State to earn this honor. Caili McDonald etched her name in the history books and earned the most kills in a single season in program history. The senior recorded 448 kills and was named the District MVP.  Additionally, Camille Wilkinson earned the title of “Outstanding Blocker.” 

Greenwood will start the 2025 season against Idalou on August 12th at 5 pm.
