What happened: Legacy defeated Abilene 42–28 on Friday, Sept. 19, in Midland, delivering one of its most complete offensive performances of the season. The Rebels built a 21–13 lead late in the second quarter and continued to pull away in the second half to secure the win. The victory moved Legacy to 1-3 overall.

Legacy’s balanced attack led by quarterback JP Reyes and running back Hayes Hamm proved too much for Abilene’s defense. The Rebels’ offensive line provided consistent protection, allowing Reyes to spread the ball across multiple receivers while Hamm powered the ground game. After Abilene tied the game 21–21 late in the first half, Legacy’s defense held firm, and the offense responded with key second-half scores to seal the victory.
