What happened: A 36-year-old Midland woman was killed early Monday after being struck by a truck on Loop 250.

The big picture: Midland Police said the crash occurred at around 2:45 a.m. Aug. 11 in the eastbound lanes of the 2100 block of West Loop 250 North. A 2022 International truck tractor was traveling in the outside lane when the driver saw a woman standing in the lane ahead. The driver swerved to avoid her but was unable to prevent the collision.

The pedestrian, identified as 36-year-old Flora Hernandez of Midland, died from her injuries at the scene. Her next of kin has been notified. MPD said the investigation is ongoing, and no further details have been released about why Hernandez was in the roadway.
