Marco’s Pizza arrives in Midland with crispy pepperoni
What happened: Marco’s Pizza, a fast-growing national chain known for fresh, authentic Italian-style pizza, officially opened its first Midland location earlier this year at 3303 N. Midkiff Road, adding another option to Midland’s pizza market. After hearing repeated praise for its pepperoni pizza, we decided to give the new restaurant a try.
The big picture: Let’s start with the good details. How was the food? Midland is not at a loss for fast food pizza, having essentially every known chain with at least one location in town. So why add another? Everyone I heard talking about Marco’s praised their pepperoni pizza, so we were excited to try it. We also ordered a veggie pizza, a calzone (which is called a Pizzoli on their menu), wings, and cheesy bread.
Our first impression was somewhat underwhelming, but that changed over the next few days as we worked our way through the leftovers. Reheated in the air fryer or over a skillet, several items became crispier and more flavorful.
The pepperoni pizza was the star of the show. It was delicious, the kind that has that pepperoni that curls and gets crispy with lots of flavor. If I were going anywhere just to order pepperoni pizza, this would probably be my new place to do so. The calzone didn’t stand out quite as much, even after reheating. The wings were also not greatly impressive, but not bad. And there’s really just no way to go wrong with cheesy bread.
Overall, I’m glad we gave Marco’s a try, and we’ll likely order it again, especially when a pepperoni pizza craving strikes.
