What happened: Midland Classical Academy earned a 59–39 home district win over Fort Worth Temple on Friday, Jan. 17. The win moves MCA to 11–16 overall and 3–2 in district play. Temple falls to 1–19 overall and 0-3 in district. Blake Crunk led the Knights with 13 points. Dawson Dunn added eight rebounds and seven assists, while Judah Schulz recorded four steals.

The big picture: Midland Classical set the tone from the opening tip and controlled the game throughout. The Knights scored the game’s first seven points and held Temple scoreless for nearly three minutes, building a 20–9 lead by the end of the first quarter.

MCA continued to apply pressure in the second quarter, steadily extending the margin and taking a 35–15 advantage into halftime. Temple was unable to mount a sustained run, as the Knights answered each basket and kept the lead in double digits.

Coming out of the break, Midland Classical put the game out of reach. The Knights opened the third quarter with another scoring surge, pushing the lead past 20 and carrying a 51–24 advantage into the fourth. MCA remained in control down the stretch, closing out the 59–39 home district win.
