What happened: Midland Classical defeated Temple Christian 65–34 on Saturday, Jan. 31, in a district road game. The win moves the Lady Knights to 17–14 overall and 5–4 in district. Temple Christian falls to 0–8 overall and 0–4 in district. Mariah Davis led the Lady Knights with 32 points and reached her 2,000-point career milestone.

The big picture: Midland Classical jumped out to an early lead, scoring 18 points in the first quarter while holding Temple Christian to five. In the second quarter, the Lady Knights extended their advantage, outscoring Temple 23–10 to lead 41–15 at halftime.

Temple Christian tried to mount a comeback in the third quarter, scoring 12 points to Midland Classical’s 13, keeping the game within reach at 54–27. Midland Classical held firm in the fourth, scoring 11 points while limiting Temple to seven to secure the 65–34 win.
