What happened: Midland Classical fell 59–52 to Trinity Christian on Friday, Jan. 16, in a home district game. The loss dropped the Lady Knights to 14–12 overall and 1–2 in district. Trinity Christian opened district play with a win, improving to 7–5 overall and 1–0 in district. Mariah Davis led MCA with 17 points, assisted by three 3-pointers by Maddie Valles. Trinity Christian senior Emily Ickert scored a game-high 42 points, including seven 3-pointers, and went 15 for 16 at the free-throw line.

The big picture: Trinity Christian took control early, leading 16–10 after the first quarter and extending the margin to 31–20 by halftime. The Lady Eagles continued to build separation in the third quarter, outscoring MCA 12–9 to take a 43–29 lead entering the fourth. Midland Classical closed the gap in the final period, scoring 23 points, but Trinity Christian held on to secure the 59–52 road win.
