What happened: Midland Christian baseball’s season came to an end in the opening round of the TAPPS playoffs, falling to Grace Prep (25-6-1 overall, 11-1 in district) 11-1 and 9-8 in a two-game series. The Mustangs finished the year 16-12-1 overall and 6-4 in district play, earning fourth place and a playoff berth.
The big picture: Midland Christian’s season scored double-digit runs in 11 games and produced several dominant wins, including 25-0 over Sonora, 20-3 over Childress, 19-6 over All Saints, and 14-4 over San Jacinto Christian Academy.
After facing a difficult non-district schedule that included Grace Prep, John Paul II, and Fort Worth Christian, the Mustangs found momentum late in the season, winning 10 of 13 games over one stretch and picking up district series wins over Grapevine Faith Christian, All Saints, and Coram Deo Academy. During that run, Midland Christian outscored opponents 51-22 combined.
Pitching also delivered key performances, with shutouts against Childress, Fort Stockton, and Coram Deo Academy.
