The Midland Christian Boys Basketball team followed up its history-making 2023-2024 season with a return to the playoffs. The Mustangs finished the 2024-2025 season with a 17-18 record and a third-place finish in TAPPS 5A District 1 play.

The Midland squad faced a handful of local Permian Basin teams during its non-district slate and earned impressive wins. The Stangs knocked off UIL District 2-6A playoff team Odessa High twice, winning by an average of 14 points. MCS also earned a 47-39 victory over fellow Midland TAPPS squad Midland Classical Academy. The only Basin squad Midland Christian couldn’t wrangle in the first half of the season was Permian, dropping that battle 67-59.

MCS collected 10 wins in district play with sweeps over All Saints, Southwest Christian School, Coram Deo Academy, Fort Worth Christian, and Grapevine Faith Christian.  The highlight of the league schedule for Midland Christian was the first matchup against Coram Deo. The Mustangs won 74-44, and Brody McHugh tied the program record for threes in a game with 11. The junior matched the mark of Porter Gotovac from 2018 in the 93-71 win over San Angelo Central.

The Tall City team finished the district slate with a 10-4 league record, the four losses to Trinity Christian and Grace Prep. Four Mustangs garnered All-District recognitions. Kohl Bremerman and McHugh earned a spot on the 1st team. Evan Garrett was named to the 2nd team, and Boston Rodriguez tabbed to the Honorable Mention list.

Midland Christian hit the road for its first-round playoff game against Bishop Dunne. The Mustangs narrowly dropped the battle with the Falcons 49-41 and saw their season come to a close.

The year wrapped up with McHugh making more history. The junior broke the program record for the most steals in a season with 95. This passed the 94 mark set in the 2018-2019 season by Joseph Venzant. The shooting guard also averaged 17 points and 2.9 steals per game, earning him a spot on the TAPPS 5A All-State 2nd team.
