What happened: Midland Christian earned a 41–15 district home win over Grapevine Faith on Saturday, Feb. 7. The victory moved the Lady Mustangs to 29–6 overall and 13–0 in district play. Grapevine Faith fell to 11–10 overall and 6–8 in district. Selah Fox led Midland Christian with 14 points.

The big picture: Midland Christian set the tone early, building an 11–4 lead after the first quarter behind two 3-pointers from Fox. The Lady Mustangs continued to extend the lead in the second quarter. Fox knocked down two more 3s, while Jordan Stokes and Lauren Alvizo added interior scoring to push Midland Christian ahead 21–11 at halftime.

After the break, Midland Christian pulled away. Stokes opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer, Jordyn Hamilton scored seven points after returning to the game, and Mallory West added a basket as the Lady Mustangs outscored Grapevine Faith 12–4 to take a 33–15 lead into the fourth.

With the game in hand, Midland Christian closed on an 8–0 run in the final quarter. Addi Tatsch scored at the free-throw line, Stokes hit another 3, and Landree Slaughter capped the scoring in the closing seconds.
