What to watch: The Midland Community Theatre (MCT) reveals its 2026 season, full of musicals, dramas, and comedies designed to engage every age. Performances start in January of 2026 and continue throughout the year.

Giant – The Musical
Jan. 30–Mar. 8, ages 12+

Based on the Edna Ferber novel, this American musical spans generations in a sweeping Texas saga. In a state shaped by cattle, oil, and ambition, a rugged rancher and his East Coast bride navigate shifting power, legacy, and the pursuit of identity.

Sawyer Finn 
Mar. 20–Apr. 4, ages 14+

An original work by MCT Associate Artistic Director Chris Barton, this play reimagines Mark Twain’s famed characters. Two boys from vastly different backgrounds forge a friendship that shapes American legend and explores how their stories intertwine.

Dear Evan Hansen 
Apr. 24–May 10, ages 14+

Winner of multiple Tony and Grammy Awards, this musical delves into the life of Evan Hansen, a socially isolated teen whose life changes when a letter he wrote becomes part of a suicide tragedy. As he becomes the symbol of a grieving community, he confronts the challenge of staying true to himself while managing the fallout of fame, loss and belonging.

Summer Mummers 
Jun. 5–Aug. 29, ages 18+

MCT’s oldest auxiliary producing company, Summer Mummers is a fun-popcorn-filled show. It entertains thousands of patrons each summer while delivering roughly one-quarter of MCT’s annual budget. Shows run Friday and Saturday evenings at the Historic Yucca Theatre.

Little Women – The Musical 
Jul. 9–19, all ages

A new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s cherished novel captures the timeless story of sisters growing up during the Civil War era. It celebrates family, resilience and the bonds of love as the March sisters find their place in a changing world.

Come From Away 
Sept. 3–20, ages 14+

A true story of global connection set in a Canadian town. On September 11, 2001, Gander, Newfoundland welcomed thousands of stranded passengers when 38 planes were diverted. Locals opened their homes, shared kindness and forged friendships that changed lives forever.

The Guys
Sept. 4-19, ages 12+

Based on real events in New York after 9/11, this one-act play brings together a fire captain and an editor as they craft memorials for fallen firefighters. In their shared grief they discover humor, humanity and hope.

She Kills Monsters 
Sept. 25–Oct. 10, ages 12+

When high-schooler Agnes Evans discovers her sister Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she embarks on a wild journey through fantasy worlds. With fairies, ogres and ’90s pop culture, this dramatic comedy explores loss, imagination and the warrior inside us all.

Meteor Shower  
Oct. 16–Nov. 1, ages 18+

A dinner party under a meteor shower turns chaotic when two couples reveal more than their wine. Corky and Norm host Gerald and Laura in the California hills, but the night’s flirtation evolves into absurdity, testing friendship and reality.

Frozen Broadway 
Nov. 19–Dec. 20, all ages

Based on Disney’s award winning film, this stage musical features the beloved songs along with new material written for the production. In the snowy kingdom of Arendelle, sisters Anna and Elsa journey from isolation toward acceptance and true love with help from Kristoff, Sven and Olaf.
