The Midland High girls basketball program took another step forward under first-year Head Coach Brett Schneider. The Lady Bulldogs earned their second straight playoff bid and posted their first winning record since the 2017-2018 season.

MHS found tournament success in late December with its breakout performance coming at the Byron Johnston Holiday Classic. The Lady Bulldogs added three victories to a season-best four-game win streak against Abilene Cooper, El Paso Socorro, and El Paso Andress. This led to Coach Schneider’s group advancing to the championship game against El Paso Pebble Hills. The Tall City team finished as tourney Runner-Up with the 66-45 loss.

Midland High carried that momentum into early District 2-6A competition. MHS opened the slate with a 52-43 win over Permian. The Lady Bulldogs later earned a second victory over the Lady Panthers, 41-32, for the season sweep. The Midland squad also added a sweep of Odessa High and finished with a 4-6 district record. Coach Schneider’s team punched its ticket to the postseason and finished in fourth place behind Frenship, Midland Legacy, and San Angelo Central.

Four Lady Bulldogs were All-District Selections for the 2024-2025 campaign. Jess Ikporo and Cady Lange were tabbed to the 1st Team, with Kayden Young and Hannah Lujan rounding out the group on the 2nd Team list.

Midland High squared off against Pebble Hills in the first round of the playoffs. This was a rematch from the Byron Johnston Holiday Classic championship game earlier in the season. The Lady Bulldogs closed their season with a 69-48 loss to the Lady Spartans. MHS posted its best overall record in eight seasons with the 18-16 mark.
