What happened: Midland lost 53–44 in a district road game against San Angelo Central on Thursday, Jan. 22. Midland drops to 8–19 overall and 0–3 in district play. San Angelo Central improves to 21–5 overall and 2–1 in district.

The big picture: The Tigers opened with a slim 7–5 lead after the first quarter. In the second, they outscored Midland 24–16 to take a 39–32 halftime advantage. Midland tried to narrow the gap in the third quarter, but San Angelo Central stayed ahead. Midland scored 12 points in the fourth quarter, yet the Tigers kept control and won by nine points.

What’s next: Midland returns home to face Frenship on Tuesday, Jan. 27. Frenship enters at 8–16 overall and 1–2 in district. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
