Midland Cheetahs host youth track meet July 24-25
What to watch: Young athletes have the opportunity to compete in the 4th Annual Midland Cheetahs Youth Track and Field Meet on Friday and Saturday, July 24-25, at J.M. King Memorial Stadium in Greenwood, 2700 FM 1379.
Hosted by the Midland Cheetahs Track Club, the two-day meet is open to athletes ages 2-18. Registration remains open through Wednesday, July 22, at 11:59 p.m.
The big picture: Competition begins Friday with the Tiny Tots division for children ages 2-6. Athletes ages 7-18 will compete Friday evening and continue Saturday.
Unlike many youth track meets, participants may compete in unlimited events for a single registration fee. The meet includes sprints, distance races, hurdles, relays, long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and discus. Registration is $15 per athlete, plus processing fees.
Go deeper: Check-in begins at 4 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday before the competition gets underway. Now in its fourth year, the Midland Cheetahs Youth Track and Field Meet gives young athletes from across West Texas an opportunity to compete during the summer.
