What to watch: Midland College will host its annual Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 8. The free community event honors local veterans and their families with a day of fitness, fellowship, and resources.

Why it matters: This year’s celebration is a collaboration between Midland College, Mil2Civ.org, Workforce Solutions Permian Basin, and the Midland Run Crew. The celebration offers West Texans an opportunity to thank those who served while connecting veterans with career and community support. The event combines family fun with meaningful services for those transitioning from military to civilian life.

The big picture: The day will begin with a kids’ 1K run and a 5K run or walk, followed by the Veterans Job and Resource Fair, featuring information on veteran benefits and mental health resources. The Veterans Day Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. to recognize the sacrifices and service of local veterans and will feature remarks from community and college leaders. Food service and family activities, including a petting zoo, will be available from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
