Midland falls to Amarillo in hard-fought home matchup
What happened: Midland High came up just short Friday, Sept. 12, falling 31–24 to Amarillo High in a back-and-forth game. The Bulldogs matched the Sandies drive for drive through much of the contest, showing balance and grit on both sides of the ball. The loss moved Midland to 0–3 on the season.
Go deeper: Midland’s offense delivered its best showing of the young season, converting key third downs and mixing play calls effectively. The Bulldogs’ passing attack generated multiple big gains, while the ground game helped control tempo in the second half. Defensively, Midland forced Amarillo into several long-yardage situations and limited scoring opportunities in the red zone. Special teams also contributed with strong field positioning and coverage throughout the night.
