What happened: Midland High fell just short in a defensive battle Friday, Sept. 5, dropping a narrow 13–12 loss to El Paso Pebble Hills. The Bulldogs held an undefeated Spartans squad to just 13 points but came up one score shy in the final minutes. The loss moved Midland to 0–2 on the season.

The Bulldogs controlled possession through long, methodical drives and found success on the ground behind improved blocking up front. A second-half touchdown briefly gave Midland the lead before Pebble Hills responded late. Despite the narrow loss, the Bulldogs’ composure and physicality drew praise from coaches and fans alike.
