Lady Bulldogs lose narrow 38–37 battle to San Angelo Central

What happened: Midland lost a close 38–37 district game to San Angelo Central on Tuesday, Jan. 27. This defeat moves the Lady Bulldogs to 15–12 overall and 1–4 in district. San Angelo Central improves to 20–9 overall and 2–3 in district.
La’Niyah White led Midland High with 14 points. Kayden Young added 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. For San Angelo Central, Jazmyne Gipson scored 10 points, and Taliyah Franklin contributed nine points.
The big picture: Midland jumped out to a 15–10 lead after the first quarter. They scored on second-chance opportunities and trips to the free-throw line. However, San Angelo Central answered in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 10–7. This cut the halftime deficit to 25–20.
In the third quarter, San Angelo Central went on a 7–0 run. Midland stayed competitive in the fourth quarter but could not overcome the deficit. They kept possession and limited San Angelo’s scoring, yet the Lady Bulldogs fell by one point.
