What happened: Midland ISD offers 32 Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs across its high schools, many of which align directly with programs at Midland College. These include options in health science, cosmetology, business, oil and gas, and law enforcement.

Why it matters: Many high school students earn college credit and certifications before graduation, contributing to CTE enrollment numbers at Midland College.

The big picture: Students begin a CTE track in 9th grade and finish in 12th grade. Specific programs allow students to earn a college Level 1 Certificates and up to 30 tuition-free college credit hours. Almost all of the programs allow students to earn an Industry Based Certification (IBC), issued by an industry-recognized organization.
