What to know: The Midland County Public Libraries will wrap up their 2026 Summer Reading Program with a free celebration featuring children’s entertainer Mr. Blue Shoes on Saturday, July 25, at the Midland County Horseshoe. Families are invited from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Hall A to enjoy live entertainment and celebrate a summer of reading.

The big picture: The event marks the finale of this year’s “Unearth a Story” Summer Reading Program, and will feature a performance by Grammy Award-winning children’s entertainer Michael Dyson, better known as Mr. Blue Shoes, whose interactive shows combine music, storytelling, movement, and audience participation.

Whether your family finished the reading challenge or just wants a fun, free morning of music and celebration, the Summer Reading Celebration is a great way to close out your summer.

Go deeper: The Summer Reading Program ran from June 1 through July 24 and tied into the traveling exhibit Dinosaurs: Land of Fire & Ice at Centennial Library. Throughout the summer, Midland County Public Libraries also hosted story times, craft activities, Bookmobile visits, teen programs, free lunches for children, and other events designed to keep families engaged while school was out.
