Neighbors, first responders unite for National Night Out
What to watch: Fire up the grill and step outside—National Night Out returns to Midland on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025.
Why it matters: This annual citywide evening of food, games, and neighborhood connection brings residents and first responders together to strengthen relationships and promote public safety.
The big picture: National Night Out is part of a nationwide movement that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. In Midland, events take place in backyards, on front lawns, and at community centers across the city. Events can range from a simple gathering with lemonade and lawn chairs or a big celebration with bounce houses and BBQ. Members of the Midland Police Department, Midland Fire Department, and city leaders will visit each registered party.
Go deeper: Start by gauging interest and rally a few neighbors to help plan. Choose a time that works for your block (most parties run 6–9 p.m.) and organize food, drinks, and simple activities like chalk art, face painting, or a piñata.
