What to watch: Come experience the wonders of West Texas wildlife after sunset during Sibley After Dark, happening Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Sibley Nature Center Education Garden. The event is free and open to the public.

Why it matters: Sibley After Dark transforms the quiet nature of Midland into a lively nighttime classroom where families can explore nature in a whole new light. With hands-on science, astronomy, and wildlife activities, the event connects residents with the rich ecology of the Permian Basin and promotes outdoor education for all ages.

The big picture: Visitors will enjoy night-sky and arthropod observations, guided scorpion walks, and an exhibit presented by the Angelo State University bat and nocturnal mammals team. In addition to science demonstrations, the event includes arts and crafts, apple cider and cookies, and a small lineup of local food trucks. This evening, running from 6-8:30 p.m., is sponsored by Oxy.
