Shop Two or More’s liquidation sale to support nonprofits
What to watch: Looking for an affordable way to shop while supporting local nonprofits? Two or More is hosting a two-day liquidation sale Friday, Feb. 6, through Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Family Center at Golf Course Road Church of Christ. Shoppers can browse a wide selection of items, from everyday household essentials to unique finds. The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers recommend arriving early for the best selection.
Why it matters: Two or More is a Midland-based nonprofit that works to meet both funding and hands-on needs across the community through resale events. Each purchase helps provide practical needs such as food, clothing, beds, and household essentials for families and partner organizations that cannot afford them.
The organization has provided support to many local groups, including MISD schools, the Basin Dream Center, Teen Challenge, Door of Hope, and Focus Care nursing home, among others.
Go deeper: Two or More says that roughly 65% of the area’s 1,300 nonprofits fall short of their annual funding needs and positions the organization as a way to help close those gaps. The group also says 100% of proceeds are directed toward community needs. Two or More has quickly gained community recognition, earning six titles in this year’s MRT Readers’ Choice Awards in its first year of operation.
What they’re saying: “I want to help the underdog, the ones who don’t have what they need,” said Tina Strickling, founder of Two or More. “We want to be the kind of place that says ‘if you need something, come and get it.’” Strickling said starting the nonprofit from the ground up “came with some sweat equity,” adding that “the pain and struggle brought something beautiful that’s way better than what I had planned.”
