Scooby-Doo adventures continue at Midland Libraries
What to watch: Midland County Libraries keep the momentum going in February 2026 with an exciting lineup of family programs. Highlights include the ongoing Scooby-Doo! Mansion Mayhem exhibit with appropriately themed activities, crafts, and sessions.
The big picture: These are the events recommended for a range of ages between newborn and 17 years old:
- Fine Motor Mondays (ages 0-9), every Monday at 10:30 a.m. (Centennial) and 2 p.m. (Downtown) – Drop in for self-led playtime with blocks and building materials to boost creativity, sharing, and fine motor skills. Held at both libraries.
- Baby Rhythm & Rhyme (ages 0-24 months), every Tuesday at 11 a.m. – An interactive session at Centennial Library featuring books, songs, finger plays, movement, and developmental stations for parents and babies.
- Toddler Tales (ages 3-5), every Wednesday at 11 a.m. (Centennial) and 11:30 a.m. (Downtown) – Spark a love of learning with stories, rhymes, songs, and movements designed to enhance literacy and cognitive growth. Held at both libraries.
- Once Upon a Time (ages unspecified, family-friendly), Thursday, Feb. 5 and 19 at 5 p.m. (Downtown) and Friday, Feb. 6 at 5 p.m. (Centennial) – Dive into new and classic tales with accompanying hands-on crafts.
- STEAM: Mystery Machine Mayhem (ages 8-13), Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. (Downtown) and Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. (Centennial) – Tackle a Scooby-themed challenge by building a Mystery Machine with paper circuits, wheels, and headlights.
- Scooby-Doo! Beyond the Exhibit Book Club (ages 10-18), Wednesday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m. – Discuss “Book Scavenger” by Jennifer Chambliss Bertman in the Teen Area at Centennial Library.
- Valentine Crafternoon (ages 2-17), Thursday, Feb. 12 at 4:30 p.m. – Create a simple Valentine’s craft to make and take home at Centennial Library.
- Born to Read Birthday Celebration (ages 1-5), Wednesday, Feb. 18 – Following Toddler Tales at both libraries, celebrate February birthdays with a free book to encourage early reading. Registration required.
- Scooby-Doo! Family Movie Night: “Scooby-Doo” (family-friendly), Friday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. – Bring snacks and watch the 2022 PG-rated film in the Activity Room at Centennial Library.
- Habia una Vez (ages unspecified, family-friendly), Friday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. (Downtown) and Friday, Feb. 20 at 5 p.m. (Centennial) – A bilingual story time exploring tales with fun crafts.
- Scooby-Doo Game Night (ages 12-18), Friday, Feb. 20 at 4:30 p.m. – Join a themed board game session in the Teen Area at Centennial Library.
- Artist in You (ages 10-17), Saturday, Feb. 21 at 11:30 a.m. – Paint a winter owl scene using household items at Centennial Library.
There are plenty of events for adults as well, such as:
- Stories in a Snap (ages 16+), Thursdays, Feb. 5, 12, and 19 at 3 p.m. – A three-week series at Downtown Library to develop short story writing skills, including translation tips for non-native English speakers.
- Genealogy off the Shelves (adult), Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. – Explore DNA clustering for family history research at Centennial Library.
- Words of the Heart (adult/family), Saturday, Feb. 7 at 4:30 p.m. – Learn poetic techniques, write a poem, and create a keepsake card at Downtown Library. Poetry books available.
- Page Turners Book Club (adult), Monday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. – Discuss “All the Sinners Bleed” by S.A. Cosby at Centennial Library.
- Steps in Spanish/Pasos en Espanol (beginner adult), Tuesdays, Feb. 10 and 24 at 11 a.m. – Progressive classes with lessons and conversation practice at Centennial Library.
- Intro to Investments (adult), Thursday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. – An overview of finances and basic investment principles at Centennial Library.
