What to watch: Families looking for a summer activity that keeps kids active can turn to the Nike Tennis Camp at the Midland College tennis courts, set for June 8–12. The co-ed camp is open to players ages 8–18 of all skill levels.

Campers train five to six hours each day through drills, match play, and competitive instruction. The full-day program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. on June 8. The camp concludes at noon on June 12.

The big picture: Co-directors Michelle Stallard and Tim Stallard will lead the camp with a professional staff. Michelle brings elite playing experience, including a No. 1 USTA Southern Section ranking and a collegiate career at the University of Texas. Tim has more than 35 years of coaching experience and has developed state champions, NCAA All-Americans, and USTA national champions.

Staff will evaluate players at check-in and group them by skill level first, then by age. Groups may shift throughout the week based on performance. Beginners will focus on fundamentals, intermediate players will build consistency, and advanced athletes will train in a competitive environment.

Go deeper: Campers will receive lunch Monday through Thursday, a Nike Tennis Camps T-shirt, and prizes. Campers must bring a racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle. This is a day camp only. Families are responsible for transportation and lodging, if needed.

What’s next: Registration is open through the Nike Tennis Camps website. The camp cost $649, and spots are limited. Organizers recommend registering early, as last year’s sessions sold out. Flexible cancellation options are available.
