Explore science and innovation during America250 STEM Day
What to watch: Midland Celebrates continues its America250 summer celebration on Saturday, June 27, with Education, Innovation & STEM Day. The citywide event brings together the Petroleum Museum, Bush Family Home, Midland ISD, Museum of the Southwest, Sibley Nature Center, ExxonMobil, Diamondback Energy, and the Midland RockHounds for a day of hands-on science, technology, engineering, and history activities.
Midland Celebrates is a collaboration between the City of Midland and the Midland Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States.
The big picture: STEM Day is one of several themed celebrations leading up to Midland’s Star-Spangled Salute on July 4.
- Horizons of Discovery: STEM Exploration at the Petroleum Museum: The day begins with an ExxonMobil hot-air balloon display visible throughout the morning, followed by free admission and hands-on STEM activities. Families can explore interactive exhibits, participate in science and engineering activities, and visit food trucks throughout the day.
- Time: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

- Midland Celebrates 250: A Day of STEM Exploration: The Bush Family Home will explore how science, technology, and innovation shaped everyday life during the years the Bush family lived in Midland. Hands-on demonstrations and activities will be offered throughout the day.
- Time: 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Location: Bush Family Home State Historic Site, 1412 W. Ohio Ave.
- STEM & Sky: An Evening at the Ballpark: The celebration concludes at Momentum Bank Ballpark, where families can watch the ExxonMobil hot air balloon inflate before the game, participate in STEM activities hosted by Midland ISD, and enjoy an evening that combines science, sports, and community fun.
