What happened: Midland Bible Church held their annual Country Fair once again last Sunday. The event, filled with family-friendly fun, food, games, and kind faces, was once again a hit, with what looked like the perfect turnout. Lines weren’t too long, food lasted, and there was a good amount of space to roam and play.

Country Fair is a 100% volunteer-run event hosted by Midland Bible Church that is completely run by the church’s members. Everything at the fair, from candy, games, and food, is offered free of cost to all as a family-friendly community outreach.

Go deeper: Some of my Country Fair favorites include the petting zoo with 26-year-old Daisy the Donkey, the cake walk, hayrides, and the ever-popular tinsel hair and face painting. This event definitely qualifies as a ‘something for everyone’ affair.

The only change made this year was a simplification of the food. In past years, the food has included high quality, complex dishes and drinks along with classic fair favorites like burgers, hot dogs, funnel cakes and other fried foods. This year, the fair offered hot dogs, popcorn, nachos, pickles, and sliced apples and caramel. While a step down from their usual food production, no one complains about free delicious food. This change allows the church to continue to accommodate the sheer amount of food needed for such a large event.
