What happened: Midland Classical Academy opened its 2025–26 basketball season Tuesday, Nov. 4, with a hard-fought 38-40 home loss to Midessa. The Knights jumped out to an early 8‑3 lead in the first four minutes but scored only five points for the rest of the first half.

The game came down to the final seconds. Down 38‑37, Blake Crunk was fouled on an inbound pass and made one of two free throws to tie the game. On the next play, Coy Nicholas forced a turnover near the baseline, but a misdirected pass went to the Warriors, who hit a late jumper with five seconds left. Senior Judah Schulz caught the final inbound but missed the shot that could have forced overtime.

Judah Schulz led MCA with 13 points, Deacon Jones added 10 points and eight rebounds, Ethan Harris and Coy Nicholas scored four points each, Bogdon Corzine and Holden Stallings added two apiece, and Crunk finished with one. The Knights made 14‑of‑57 field goals, 3‑of‑13 three-pointers, and 7‑of‑13 free throws, while Midessa hit five of 16 three-pointers to secure the win.

What’s next: Midland Classical Academy will look for its first win when it hosts Midland’s Texas Leadership Charter Academy on Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
