Free MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition coming July 22
What to watch: Young baseball and softball players can test their skills at the City of Midland’s free MLB Pitch, Hit & Run competition on Wednesday, July 22, from 6-8 p.m. at Reyes-Mashburn-Nelms Park, 2101 E. Cuthbert St. Top performers can advance through multiple rounds of competition for the chance to compete during the 2026 MLB World Series.
The big picture: MLB Pitch, Hit & Run is Major League Baseball’s official youth skills competition. Instead of playing a full game, participants compete in pitching, hitting, and running, earning points based on their performance. The highest scorers advance to the Team Championships before the National Finals during the MLB World Series.
The free event is open to boys and girls ages 7-14, with age determined as of Nov. 15, 2026. Participants will compete in one of four age divisions—7-8, 9-10, 11-12, or 13-14. Players will have their pitching accuracy, hitting distance and accuracy, and running speed tested. Each participant earns a score based on those events, with the top performers advancing to the next level of competition.
What’s next: Registration is free, but you must complete it online before the event. For more information, contact Midland Parks & Recreation at (432) 685-7355 or email [email protected].
