What happened: Greenwood cruised to a 91–20 district home win over Pecos on Tuesday, Jan. 20, improving to 16–9 overall and 2–0 in district play. Trip Legendre scored 13 points, and Austin Snodgrass added 12 to lead Greenwood. Pecos dropped to 7–17 overall and 0–2 in district.

The big picture: The Rangers exploded out of the gate, building a 25–3 lead by the end of the first quarter. Pecos struggled to find rhythm, while Greenwood continued to pile on in the second quarter, stretching the margin to 41–7 by halftime.

Coming out of the break, Greenwood showed no letup. Jonathan Mendoza opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer, and Colton Rauman followed with a triple of his own as the Rangers quickly pushed the lead past 40. Noah Rivas, Weston Turnage, Ethan Rybolt, and Austin Snodgrass added scores in the paint as Greenwood surged to a 64–16 advantage entering the fourth.

The Rangers finished the night with another scoring burst. Snodgrass scored repeatedly inside and from midrange, while Mendoza and Trip Legendre each knocked down late 3-pointers during a dominant closing stretch. Greenwood scored 27 points in the fourth quarter, emptying the bench and closing out the 91–20 district win.

What’s next: Greenwood travels to Fort Stockton for a district matchup against the Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 22. Fort Stockton enters at 6–12 overall and 1–1 in district. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
